The Medical History Society of New Jersey (MHSNJ) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the enhancement of public awareness and preservation of local and international history of medicine. Founded on May 7, 1980, its work is based on the fundamental belief that an understanding of how medicine was practiced in the past was shaped and continues to influence aspects of our cultural, political and philosophical beliefs and decision-making.
Using our website and other social media applications, we connect our local and international visitors with opportunities to network, explore diverse medical history topics by presenting scholarly papers at our biannual programs, and encourage members and visitors to share their passion for medical history through discussions on our blog. As advocates for medical history the Society prides itself in promoting and encouraging historical research, analysis and publication.
Currently the MHSNJ holds biannual meetings featuring presentations of scholarly papers. These programs also provide opportunities for conversation among members and visitors with shared historical interests.
The Medical History Society of New Jersey invites all who share an interest in the history of medicine to join the Society. Our members are men and women with a broad range of experience and expertise. Membership is open to practitioners, researchers, educators, and students who have an interest in medical history.
